About the Journal

Research and Knowledge Development (RKD) is a peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal published by Universitas Widya Gama Mahakam Samarinda. The journal was first published in 2026 and is issued twice a year (April and September) in electronic (online) format.

The journal serves as a scholarly forum for academics, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to disseminate original research articles and review papers in the field of Development Studies. RKD promotes evidence-based knowledge that supports sustainable development through interdisciplinary perspectives while maintaining a clear focus on development-related issues.

The journal particularly publishes research addressing:

  1. Public policy and governance;
  2. Community development and empowerment;
  3. Sustainable economic and business development;
  4. Environmental sustainability and natural resource management;
  5. Public health and community well-being;
  6. Education and human resource development;
  7. Digital transformation and appropriate technology for development;
  8. Legal and institutional development that supports sustainable development.

Research from accounting, management, public administration, public health, agrotechnology, law, computer science, and education is welcomed provided that it contributes to the advancement of Development Studies and addresses development challenges at the local, regional, national, or global level. Manuscripts that focus solely on disciplinary or technical issues without relevance to development studies are outside the scope of the journal.

RKD publishes manuscripts in Indonesian and English and provides immediate open access to all published articles, supporting the free exchange of scientific knowledge and wider dissemination of research findings.
